Samsung has just officially announced its latest mobile phone offering, the L870 slider which is not only sleek looking with its stainless steel body and brushed patter but most importantly it supports the Safari browser which we normally see in Apple’s web-capable devices such as the iPhone or iPod Touch. The announcement pretty much confirmed what we already know about from information and photo leaks as well as rumors that have circulate on the web. The Samsung L870 is an S60 smarthphone which runs on Symbian 9.3 and 3rd Ed. S60 interface. Samsung is also said to be planning on loading the new phone with nifty applications straight out the box, meaning the applications will be preloaded on the L870 units. The Samsung SGH-L870 will also come with a 13.5mm thick slider, 3.0 megapixel camera, a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 100MB memory plus microSD slot, FM radio, Bluetooth, triband GSM support, single band UMTS/HSDPA at 3.6mbps support, Quick Office document viewer, push email, advance PIM applications, music player, video player. The Samsung L870 will be available in Europe sometime in August. No pricing details are available yet.
